Stargazing & Bikepacking

Not-so expensive astronomy and some bikepacking stories

Some binoculars August 3rd

Quick session in a field near Renkum through a 10×50 which I brought along on a 3-day bikepack trip:

  • M13 – easily found. Big!
  • M3 – hard to find because it was in the light pollution but big too!
  • M92 – a bit harder to find but still easy enough. Denser than M13 and M3
  • M31 – a large halo was visible
  • Brocchi’s Cluster a.k.a. The Coathanger in Cygnus a.k.a. Cr 399 – what a sight to behold even if it only is a asterism
